About Guardians of Egypt - Girl Edition

One phone call, and your daughter is on her way to Cairo. Three ancient scarabs, a vanished professor, and a secret society that wants them first.

Guardians of Egypt puts your daughter at the center of the mystery instead of on the sidelines. It's her name in the story and her face in the illustrations: an explorer who reads the clues, outsmarts the people following her and decides every next step herself.

The adventure

The call comes late at night. Professor Harlan Stone, a family friend who has spent his life studying ancient Egypt, has found something under the sand, and someone is already after him. "Find the three scarabs," he manages to say before the line goes silent. In an envelope she finds a ticket for the morning flight to Cairo, a map marked with three red X's and one warning: watch out for anyone with a small black Anubis on their collar.

Waiting at the airport is Karim, a quick-thinking local boy, and before long a street cat named Nefer has adopted them both. The trail runs through the spice-scented lanes of Khan el-Khalili, a carved jackal stone in the shadow of the Great Pyramid, a secret niche at the Sphinx that only appears under the full moon, and deep into a painted royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings, with the Order of the Black Anubis never far behind.

Why she'll want to play it again

  • Her decisions steer the story. Sixteen real choices: ride the night train or sail the Nile on a felucca, wait for the full moon or climb the fence, hide or run. Each one opens a different road.
  • Six endings, not one. Two ways to win, one of them the perfect ending, plus four "start again" endings that turn a wrong move into a lesson, like drinking water before you feel thirsty in the desert heat.
  • A backpack full of tools. A magnifying glass that spots a fake, a keffiyeh that works as a disguise, a mirror that bounces sunlight into a dark tomb, a rope, a key, a piece of chalk. Fifteen finds in all, and the right one at the right time changes everything.
  • Fascinating facts along the way. Forty "Did you know?" notes and four riddles: why tombs were lit with mirrors instead of torches, how a blue stone traveled 2,500 miles from Afghanistan, how scientists found a hidden space inside the Great Pyramid.
  • A real adventure, not a short one. A full run to the Hall of Eternity takes 35 to 41 sections.

Perfect for

Girls from 7 to 14 who love puzzles, hidden clues and stories where they make the calls. A memorable birthday present, a great match for a young fan of ancient Egypt, and an easy way to turn "one more page" into a whole evening of reading.

  • Choices that actually matter

The card they unwrap

Every book comes with a printable gift card: your child’s cover on the front, a QR code inside that opens the story. Print it, fold it, hand it over.

Before you order

The questions parents ask first

Will the hero really look like my child?

You don’t have to take our word for it. Upload a photo and you’ll see your child as the hero before you pay anything. If the hero doesn’t look like them, we’ll redo it. If you’re still not happy, we refund you in full.

Do I have to approve anything?

Yes, and it is the best part of the deal. After you order, we draw two or three sample illustrations with your child in them and put them on your order page within 24 hours. You either approve them, or tell us what to change — we do not finish the book until you are happy. The finished book follows within 2–3 days of your approval.

What kind of photo works best?

Good light, the whole face visible, and the camera more or less straight on. A head-and-shoulders shot of one child beats a group photo taken from across the yard.

What happens to my child’s photo?

It’s used only to create the hero, nothing else. We delete the original photo from our storage once your book is finished. Orders must be placed by a parent or guardian, or with their permission.

How long does it take to create a book?

Ordering takes a couple of minutes: pick a story, upload a photo, and you see your child as the hero right away. Within 24 hours of your order we send you two or three sample illustrations to look at. Once you approve them, the finished book reaches your email within 2–3 days.

What ages are the books for?

Our books are written for children from 7 to 14.
